Respite Care Services

Caring for an aging loved one can be rewarding and challenging. Careworthy is here to make it easier. We are an in-home care company that offers Respite Care services that will help you restore balance to your life.

Respite care for family caregivers is a planned break from your caregiving routines that still allows your loved one to be cared for at home.  Our in home Respite Care will provide you with the break you need to recharge and focus on yourself for a little while. This care can be scheduled so that you get relieved at a time that works best for you. We’ll provide you with the peace of mind of knowing that your loved one is in great hands.

Here are some examples of when a  family caregiver might use respite care:

  • When the caregiver needs to travel for vacation, holidays, for work or other reasons

  • When the caregiver needs time off to tend to their own health needs, such as surgery

  • For self-care. The caregiver may want to take a day off to workout, to worship, to socialize or other reasons. The schedule can be customized to meet the family's needs. Can be a weekly, semi-weekly, biweekly, monthly, etc.

RESPITE CARE BENEFITS

Respite care can benefit both the family caregiver and the client in several ways. .

  • Giving caregivers a break, allowing them to take a vacation, run errands, or take a break from the demands of caregiving.

  • Helping improve caregivers' physical and mental health and reduce their risk of burnout.

  • Providing the relief caregivers need while allowing them to keep their loved ones at home. This can help keep families together and avoid the stress and heartache of placing a loved one in long-term care.

  • Allowing families to create a custom plan that meets their specific needs and allows them to take advantage of the most beneficial services.

  • Alleviating the strain caregiving puts on relationships and preserves them by giving both parties some time apart.

IS RESPITE CARE FOR THE ELDERLY ONLY?

No, respite care is meant to provide the relief and assistance to many kinds of caregivers providing support and care to their loved one. Respite care can include those caring for loved ones recovering from surgery, end-of-life care, care for people who have disabilities, and more.

WHO PAYS FOR RESPITE CARE?

Payment for respite care, similar to any sort of in-home caregiving services, will depend from family to family. For some it is out-of-pocket or privately funded. For others, their insurance policy might cover the expense including the Indiana Pathways for Aging program. You can give us a call to find out what payment options and assistance is possible for you or your family member.

THERE ARE BENEFITS FOR BOTH THE CLIENT AND THE FAMILY CAREGIVER:

  • For the client, benefits include increased socialization, assistance with personal care tasks that are less pleasant for a family to deal with, and allowing clients to maintain dignity.

  • For family caregivers, benefits include time to tend to their own needs, rest, and peace of mind knowing their loved one is with a trained Caregiver
